Stop Wishing; Start Doing

For as long as I can remember I’ve been making wishes. Blowing out candles on a birthday cake? Making a wish. Finding an eyelash on my cheek? Making a wish before blowing it off into the wind. The clocks at 11:11? You can bet I’m making a wish. I’ve wished for so many things over the course of my 21 years and hardly ever do they come true, yet I still continue to make these wishes.

It wasn’t until I was laying in bed a few nights ago making my 11:11 wish that I realized my wishes and my dreams are never going to come true if I don’t do something about them. If you wish for something, or even if you want something, you have to put in some kind of effort to make it happen. You can’t just expect a fairy godmother to show up and just make your wishes reality. You have to put in your share of the work in order to make your dreams happen.

For instance, for so long I have wished I could do something more creative with my life. I’ve never wanted to get stuck doing the same thing everyday and get trapped in the same routine. I would see all of these YouTubers and bloggers out living their best lives, traveling all the time and doing all of these fun activities while I would just sit on my bed thinking “wow I wish my life was like that.” It just recently clicked in my head that, “hey I can do that. If I would just take the first steps and actually create a blog instead of saying I wish I could.” I stopped saying “I wish” and started saying “I will.” So here we have my blog, “Just Another Jobless Blogger.” I’m taking steps toward making my wishes a reality. While I don’t plan on being a “Jobless Blogger” forever, I am currently looking for ways to live my life more creatively and this is one of those ways, so for now this is where I’ll be.

Anyways, my point is that we as a society need stop saying things like “I wish” and start saying things like “I will.” If we change our mentality, we can make our dreams a reality. I know, it’s a lot easier said than done, but it will make your life more fulfilling when you start working towards making your wishes come true. Whatever you’re wishing for right now, start telling yourself you can attain that wish and then start working towards making that happen. Stop wishing and start doing.
